Naxx PTR Expectations and Account Manager Update
Naxxramas PTR Expectations
Dear Community,
A few questions have been raised since our last announcement, from guilds and players looking for clarification on how the Naxxramas PTR will work. Here are some additional details.
- Similar to the live realm, there will be a raid reset on the PTR on Wednesday at 6:00 AM server time. This makes it possible to test each fight once before the reset, and once after the reset.
- The ‘aggro’ radius on trash mobs has been reduced to 10 yards. While it may be possible to skip these mobs, we encourage you to test their mechanics.
- Time spent on the PTR should be focused on testing mob mechanics for bugs and issues, not player mechanics and positioning. We do not intend for the PTR to be used as a platform for mastering the fights.
- GMs and other Twinstar staff will strive to be present during most testing sessions to observe bugs and fix issues on the fly (when possible).
- Repeatedly wiping the raid or using other means to increase your number of attempts on a fight is strictly prohibited. Guilds will be allowed to attempt each boss a maximum of 3 times, per raid reset. A maximum of 6 attempts, across two raid IDs, for the week of PTR testing. Regardless of GM presence, PTR logs will be reviewed to ensure that these rules are adhered to. Violation of this rule may result in exclusion from all further and future PTR testing.
If your guild has already decided on when you will be testing on the PTR, please consider sharing your schedule, streaming links, and/or voice comms info with us. None of this is required, but we hope to be included so that we can focus on being a 3rd party observer to each fight. With your consent, we would also like to offer to publish your streaming links through our various communication channels.
Additionally, we recognize that there has been some player generated discussion around the increasing difficulty of Naxxramas upon release. At this point in time, the values being used in Naxxramas development are not being inflated to increase difficulty. If you encounter elements in the instance you consider to be non-blizzlike (whether easier or harder) then the right approach is to consider it an issue we’ve overlooked, and as such you should feel welcome to report it in the bug tracker.
Account Manager Update
We originally announced back in December 2016, that a new account manager featuring race and faction changes was expected to be ready around Q2 2017. This project is still under development, but we have encountered several challenges along the way which has delayed its release. The ‘back end’ of the new account manager has been completed, which is the most difficult part of the development process. The ‘front end’ still requires significant development, which is what allows users to actually use the system. We do not currently have an ETA as to when this will be complete. As soon as we do, we will share it with you.
